Sometimes, when God invites us to stop and smell the flowers, He does so in a grand way!
Hillside daisies (Monolopia lanceolata) paint a dazzling portrait of vibrant beauty, as the hills of the Temblor Range rise in a dramatic backdrop to this floral intersection at the entrance to Carrizo Plain National Monument in south central California, USA during the 2019 Superbloom.
Timing and location are paramount in wildflower photography. In less than a week after this uncropped photo was taken, the blossoms had mostly wilted, their fleeting beauty kept alive in pictures and pleasant memories.
If heaven had stop signs — as if they needed them — I would imagine it might look something like this. But infinitely more beautiful.
In this magnificent but imperfect world blemished by sin, God allows “stop signs” ~ life’s delays and road bumps ~ to help slow us down when life gets too busy, too fast, too hectic… so we may recalibrate, reprioritize, renew and press the refresh button.
Our loving Heavenly Father created us as triune beings in spirit, mind and body. One of the best ways to renew all three is to seek the Creator’s presence. This can be done through daily Bible reading, meditating on the Word of the Lord and His goodness to us, and conversing with the Majestic King in prayer ~ then listening for His response.
When we make the Restorer's presence part of our lifestyle, we will experience true peace.
Exodus 33:14 promises us that God’s presence “will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
Today... have you stopped to smell the flowers?

The color of the daisies in this uncropped photo is pretty much the way I saw them in person. Their brilliance was almost blinding!
Embedded in the top right-hand corner is the Hebrew acronym for "B'ezras Hashem" [ ב ס " ד ] meaning "with God's help". It is a reminder to me as an artist of my dependence on the Almighty, the Originator of all creativity. This is a similar acknowledgement used by great artists like Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel who signed their work with the Latin phrase, "Soli Deo gloria" which means, "Glory to God alone".
