These are the beautiful gardens at the Mount of the Beatitudes overlooking the Sea of Galilee near Tiberias, Israel. An assortment of flowering sub-tropical plants adorn this restful oasis with date palms standing in the background.

A Franciscan chapel was built in 1938 designed by architect Antonio Barluzzi on these sacred grounds. Pope John Paul II celebrated Mass at this site in March 2000.

Historians believe this is near the actual location where my Savior and Messiah, Yeshua Jesus proclaimed His Sermon on the Mount, which has been called the Greatest Sermon ever preached. Included are these eternal Truths of the Eight Beatitudes::

"Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

Photographic artwork notes::

When I visited the gardens and Church of the Beatitudes in Israel and took this photo in November 2009, the weather was overcast and rainy (which was a blessing because the Holy Land was enduring a three-year drought and needed the rain). The original sky in this photo was a somber gray from the cloud cover, so I borrowed a sky photo I had taken over the Sea of Galilee a few miles from here and superimposed the blue sky over this photo. The softly lit landscape from the overcast day, combined with the added blue sky, brings out the subtle color hues of the foliage and flowers which would not be possible had this photo been taken with the blazing sun of a cloud-free day. I hope you like this artistic effect, as I wanted to present these beautiful gardens as representative of the horticultural excellence found in Israel.
