Description
After a prolonged period of cold, wet weather, a sunny day arrives with a spectacular sight: this desert cottontail rabbit (Sylvilagus audubonii) makes an astonishing vertical leap nearly three feet straight up in the air during a face-off with another rabbit in a vibrant field of clover.
This photo was taken after nearly a half hour wait at Merced National Wildlife Refuge in the Central Valley of California. Nature photography is a fun and educational way to develop patience!
It was my very first time seeing a wild rabbit in its natural habitat making such a bounding leap. The Creator of the universe truly has a sense of humor!
“For with You I rush on a troop, with my God I can leap over a wall.”
~ 2 Samuel 22:30 (TLV)
A life lesson from this wildlife capture: Be prepared and ready, patiently waiting for the “suddenlies” the Lord sends your way.

Artwork notes::
Embedded in the top right-hand corner is the Hebrew acronym for "B'ezras Hashem" [ב ס " ד] meaning "with God's help". It is a reminder to me as an artist and photographer of my dependence on the Almighty, the Originator of all creativity. This is a similar acknowledgement used by great artists like Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel who signed their work with the Latin phrase, "Soli Deo gloria" which means, "Glory to God alone".
