Description
Have you wondered what a date palm orchard looks like up close?
This portrait ~ which has a lot of sentimental value ~ is from my Israel Pilgrimage, November 2009.
It is the result of 36 editing sessions and countless hours. A true labor of love.
The original photo was taken from inside a tour bus traveling at about 40 MPH en route to Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered.
To bring this picture to presentable quality, I removed the window glare, straightened the photograph (it was severely leaning and distorted when I took the photo while the bus was moving), and did numerous color and lighting adjustments.
A painterly enhancement was added to restore the colors and details from the faded photograph. In addition, an HDR effect was gently applied as a separate process.
There was no place for the bus to stop for this picture which had to be taken “on the fly”. It is now a special memory from my family’s Holy Land trip.
It is also being considered for my book which will be published soon.
Israel has been called God’s prophetic timepiece. It is amazing to see Bible prophecy being fulfilled before our very eyes in this tiny yet important nation.
Indeed, the desert in the Holy Land has blossomed like the rose, which was foreseen by Isaiah the Prophet (Isaiah 35:1).
And as the Lord has promised in Genesis 12:3, the nations of the earth are truly being blessed by Israel ~ through a variety of ways such as its technology to solve perplexing problems and via its humanitarian work throughout the world.
FUN FACTS::
* Israel is one of the only countries whose deserts are actually SHRINKING due to irrigation and wise water use reclaiming desert land for agriculture and planting new forests.
* Water conservation technology from Israel is being used throughout the world, from Africa to California.
* Israel is one of the world's major exporters of nutritious fresh fruits and vegetables.
* The cherry tomato and drip irrigation are just two of many innovations that Israel has invented and/or advanced greatly to help solve the world's food and water problems.
* Israel is often among the first to send humanitarian relief teams to assist in disaster areas around the world. In 2020, they sent a team of firefighters to battle the wildfires in my home state of California.

What a neat memory and I respect the work you put in to restore this because of the importance of that memory. In the end photos remind us the great experiences we have and share :)

Brian, what an amazing capture and digital touch of this palm orchard on your trip to Israel! That would be a dream come true for me! Love your description! LF

Kathy, thank you for your kind words! Israel is beginning to allow tourists again post pandemic lockdown as I write this. I hope you get the opportunity to visit the Holy Land, and soon. Life-changing to say the least! Blessings.
