The town where Yeshua Jesus spent His early years is now a modern city in northern Israel's Galilee region, as seen in this panorama I took from Nazareth's Mount Precipice lookout in November 2009 during my parents' 50th Anniversary pilgrimage to the Holy Land.
It was in this town the angel Gabriel announced to Mary that she would bring forth God's one and only begotten Son, Jesus, Who would be The Way to salvation for the world (Luke 1:26-37). This holiday season ~ and indeed each day of the year ~ may we make room in our hearts for the One Who came so we may have life, and that more abundantly (John 10:10). Happy Hanukkah חנוכה שמח and Merry Christmas (both on the same day in 2016) to my precious Facebook family (and to all you precious ones reading this)! And, Happy Birthday, Yeshua Jesus!
Traveling to Israel literally makes the Bible come alive in living color, as in this passage from Luke 1:26-37:
26 Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth,
27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin's name was Mary.
28 And having come in, the angel said to her, "Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!"
29 But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was.
30 Then the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.
31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus.
32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David.
33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end."
34 Then Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I do not know a man?"
35 And the angel answered and said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.
36 Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren.
37 For with God nothing will be impossible."
And here are these encouraging Words from Acts 10:38:
"...God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him."

Artwork notes:
Embedded in the top right-hand corner is the Hebrew acronym for "B'ezras Hashem" [ד " ס ב ] meaning "with God's help". It is a reminder to me as an artist and photographer of my dependence on the Almighty, the Originator of all creativity. This is a similar acknowledgement used by great artists like Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel who signed their work with the Latin phrase, "Soli Deo gloria" which means, "Glory to God alone".
