Description
On a recent nature walk in the Marin Headlands overlooking the Pacific Ocean near the Golden Gate Bridge in Marin County California, I saw this Columbian blacktail deer (Odocoileus hemionus columbianus) pause to clean itself.
I felt God speaking to me through this nature image.
The King of the universe exhorts each of us to stop ~ and take a deep, honest look within our hearts to see if there is anything that displeases the Lord, that causes Him grief ~ what brings Him dishonor.
Perhaps it’s our attitude, our way of thinking
~ or the words we speak ~
or the things that we do (or neglect to do).
In Psalm 51, David asked God to forgive him of sin and wrongdoing after Nathan the prophet confronted him.
Like this deer bathing itself and dislodging pests, dirt and grime, may we take to heart and implement as our daily habit the words of Psalm 51:10-13:
“Create in me a clean heart, God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me away from Your presence,
And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of Your salvation,
And sustain me with a willing spirit.
Then I will teach wrongdoers Your ways,
And sinners will be converted to You.” (NASB)
Let this be our prayer to implement daily.
The Creator of the universe is calling us to get our hearts right with Him while there is still time.
The King of kings has such great plans and destiny for each of us.
We just need to be faithful through prayer and obedience.
Then we can hear with clarity what our Lord and Savior is speaking to our hearts.
The words to the hymn, “Trust and Obey” penned by John H. Sammis in 1887 hold true today ~ and are keys to success God’s way.
The Lord bless you as you walk with Him each day along life’s journey.

Embedded in the top right-hand corner is the Hebrew acronym for "B'ezras Hashem" [ב ס " ד] meaning "with God's help". It is a reminder to me as an artist and photographer of my dependence on the Almighty, the Originator of all creativity. This is a similar acknowledgement used by great artists like Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel who signed their work with the Latin phrase, "Soli Deo gloria" which means, "Glory to God alone".
