Description
A great blue heron (Ardea herodias) spreads its impressive wings to steady itself as it wades along the shoreline of Richardson Bay at a wildlife refuge in Marin County near San Francisco.
These majestic birds are the largest of the North American herons, with a height of up to 54 inches (138 cm) and a wingspan of up to 79 inches (201 cm).
The Creator of the universe often illustrates wisdom and success principles through nature.
We can learn much about safety and provision through observing His handiwork, and seeing what His Word says.
This includes preparing now for the present ~ and for what’s to come in the future.
For example, Malachi 4:1-3 gives us insight as to how to survive the Great Day of God’s purification when He will cleanse the earth of unrighteousness.
On this art piece, I featured a brief excerpt from the second verse of Micah chapter 4 in the Bible. It is quoted especially among Christians.
I felt God saying that He wants His body of believers to go deeper in our understanding of what the King of kings wants to accomplish in our lives.
I believe the Lord is saying with God’s blessings ~ healing, for instance ~ there are necessary conditions to receive those blessings.
As has been said ~ God is the God of “our part, and His part”.
When we faithfully fulfill our part of the equation, God is faithful to do His part.
So for this passage in Malachi 4 verse 2, I felt the gentle nudge of the Holy Spirit to examine closely the verses before and after ~ to get the proper and full context of meaning.
Therefore, Malachi 4:1-3 reads as follows:
“The Lord of Heaven’s Armies says, ‘The day of judgment is coming, burning like a furnace. On that day the arrogant and the wicked will be burned up like straw. They will be consumed—roots, branches, and all.
“But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture. On the day when I act, you will tread upon the wicked as if they were dust under your feet,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.’”
So when we do our part to live a lifestyle of reverential fear ~ that is, respect and awe ~ for the One True and Living God, He promises to bring healing, freedom and victory over the enemy, which includes the devil and his demonic strongholds.
I encourage you to read the remaining verses of Malachi 4, which is a short chapter ~ the final one in the Old Testament.
Wise and timely words.
God bless you abundantly as you meditate on this passage of Scripture, allow it to refresh and deeply permeate your soul, and apply it to your everyday life.

Photography notes:
Embedded in the top right-hand corner is the Hebrew acronym for "B'ezras Hashem" [ב ס " ד] meaning "with God's help". It is a reminder to me as an artist and photographer of my dependence on the Almighty, the Originator of all creativity. This is a similar acknowledgement used by great artists like Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel who signed their work with the Latin phrase, "Soli Deo gloria" which means, "Glory to God alone".

Beautiful and inspirational! Jesus is both The Son of Righteousness and The Sun of Righteousness. He has power to cleanse us from all sin upon condition of sincere repentance. Why do so many refuse the priceless Gift of Salvation?

Brian, great blue heron live and roost (nest) along the Missouri and Nemaha rivers, near the town where I live. You have captured quite a beauty here. This part of the Malachi verse makes me smile: "And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture." - - - You might enjoy seeing this brief video of two great blue herons landing, from Cornell Lab of Ornithology: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mr5E2MA0w38
