Description
05.05.22: The theme this year for the National Day of Prayer is: "Exalt the Lord who has established us. Colossians 2:6-7". Mrs. Shirley Dobson, NDP chairman emeritus, reminds us: “We have lost many of our freedoms in America because we have been asleep. I feel if we do not become involved and support the annual National Day of Prayer, we could end up forfeiting this freedom, too.”
05.06.2021: This year marks the 70th annual observance of the National Day of Prayer. The Theme for 2021 is:: "LORD, pour out Your love, life and liberty" based on the Scripture in 2 Corinthians 3:17: "Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom" (NASB). America needs prayer like never before.
05.07.2020: The National Day of Prayer is an annual national observance established by public law in 1952 and observed publicly the First Thursday in May since 1988. The theme for 2020 was “Pray God’s Glory Across the Earth”, based on Habakkuk 2:14: “for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.”

As I was taking photos of bumblebees in early 2020, a song sparrow (Melospiza melodia) lit on a branch of California laurel within a mere four feet of my camera lens.
Like a Heaven-sent divine interruption, this sweet bird belted out a brief song, as if reminding the world of the proclamation by President Trump to designate a special day for nationwide prayer in response to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
Extraordinary times require extraordinary measures.
May we be ever mindful of the need to petition The Almighty with a heart of Thanksgiving for His mercy and protection, during both the good times and challenging ones.
2 Chronicles 7:14 is a well loved and often quoted Scripture.
Featured here are verses 13 and 15 in addition to the famous 14th verse, to put this passage in perspective:
“13 When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people,
14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
15 Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place.”
May we implore God in prayer with a genuine heart of repentance and humility.
Artwork notes:
Although this image is available as a fine art greeting card in the product selections on this page, the aspect ratio would look better as a print. A lovely reminder for your home or office to pray...
The background is "as is" ~ bokeh from reflections of a condominium on Richardson Bay near Mill Valley, California. I thank God and give Him the glory for how He divinely orchestrated the details of this image so beautifully.
I have titled this image, “National DAYS of Prayer”, as there have been multiple day proclamations for Prayer here in the U.S., in additional to the traditional annual National Day of Prayer which occurs on the first Thursday in May.
The National Day of Prayer was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and was signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. (Source: www dot nationaldayofprayer dot org/about)
The forerunner to this annual observance was when the Second Continental Congress established days of fasting and prayer beginning in 1775 (source: Wikipedia).
Interestingly, the day this image was being prepared, I noticed the number of followers on my gallery at Fine Art America reached “714”, which reminds me of 2 Chronicles 7:14. It was like a confirmation from the Lord that this is the time to release this image to the world. May this artwork encourage people to pray more often. To the glory of God.
Grateful to God and thankful to the group administrators for kindly featuring this image on the home pages of the Fine Art America groups ::

Embedded in the top right-hand corner is the Hebrew acronym for "B'ezras Hashem" [ ב ס " ד ] meaning "with God's help". It is a reminder to me as an artist of my dependence on the Almighty, the Originator of all creativity. This is a similar acknowledgement used by great artists like Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel who signed their work with the Latin phrase, "Soli Deo gloria" which means, "Glory to God alone".
This image may be ordered as a museum quality fine art print (framed or unframed) and other products featured on this page. All artwork ordered through Fine Art America comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee, and world-wide shipping is available.
The "Fine Art America" watermark in the full resolution preview will not show in the final print/product purchased.

A beautiful little bird proclaiming his message far and wide! Certainly America needs prayer now more than ever before. The Land of the Free is under threat from The Enemy Of All Righteousness and his foul fiends on every side. He has blinded the eyes and stopped the ears of many of God's children, so that they are walking in darkness at noonday, by his vile and cunning deceptions. The most dangerous of all are those that threaten marriage and family relationships, as these are the foundation on which Christ's Church is built. Repentance is needed by all that are living, as we have all fallen short of that Perfect Life. We cannot know how much longer we will be here below, so it behooves us to live each day as if it were our last. Then we can be sure that God will fulfill all His promises and we will be able to enter His Glorious Presence, but as long as we are in this mortal sphere, there is the danger that our foot may slip. We cannot afford to be complacent. Complacency has been the undoing of so many individuals and governments! May God preserve us all in these uncertain times!
Brian Tada replied:
Kathryn, I do agree that complacency has been ruinous to societies and the body of Christ. Mrs. Shirley Dobson, National Day of Prayer chairman emeritus, reminded us: “We have lost many of our freedoms in America because we have been asleep. I feel if we do not become involved and support the annual National Day of Prayer, we could end up forfeiting this freedom, too.”

Sing on, birdie! We certainly could use a few more days of prayer in these trying times, plus some. Unfortunately ingratitude is one of the most prevalent sins of our day. No sooner will the danger be past than the vast majority of people will be attributing it to coincidence or the power of Science. Relatively few will give glory to God, yet our lives and the lives of the whole world are in his hands.
