Description
08.19.2019:: A heart-felt THANK YOU to Kristen McNicholas, Associate Photo Editor, National Geographic Your Shot, for selecting "Long May She Wave" as an Editor's Favorite. Very much appreciated. God bless you!
*****
After a meeting at church in Oakland, California, I noticed how beautiful the U.S. flag looked with the bed of vibrant latana plants.
I'm reminded freedom is not free and would like to honor Veterans and active duty personnel for their service.
The passage in John 15:13 comes to mind:
“No one has greater love than this: that he lay down his life for his friends.”
For this photo perspective, my hand-held camera was three inches (7.62 cm) above the pavement, looking up.

Artwork notes:
This art image and others in my portfolio are available as museum-quality fine art prints, framed and unframed. Please kindly see the ordering options on this page.
Embedded in the top right-hand corner is the Hebrew acronym for "B'ezras Hashem" [ב ס " ד] meaning "with God's help". It is a reminder to me as an artist and photographer of my dependence on the Almighty, the Originator of all creativity. This is a similar acknowledgement used by great artists like Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel who signed their work with the Latin phrase, "Soli Deo gloria" which means, "Glory to God alone".
