Description
Rising nearly a vertical mile above the valley, Yosemite’s iconic Half Dome is surrounded by snow-capped mountains as seen from Glacier Point, elevation 7,214 feet (2,199 meters) during a day-trip on June 1, 2017.
Stately trees tenaciously grasp the granite slopes, adding greenery to the majestic wilderness terrain.
It was my first visit to this magnificent landmark in the heart of the Sierra Nevada mountains of northern California. Truly awe-inspiring.
The Scripture referenced in “The Sound of Music” comes to mind::
“I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.”
Psalm 121:1-2, Tree of Life Version (TLV)

Embedded in the top right-hand corner is the Hebrew acronym for "B'ezras Hashem" [ב ס " ד] meaning "with God's help". It is a reminder to me as an artist and photographer of my dependence on the Almighty, the Originator of all creativity. This is a similar acknowledgement used by great artists like Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel who signed their work with the Latin phrase, "Soli Deo gloria" which means, "Glory to God alone".

What an incredible capture of Half Dome. I have been to Yosemite quite a few times and always stood in awe of this mountain. Also, the height from which you've captured this, and the angle, makes it breathtaking to view overall.
