11.08.20 UPDATE: As I prayed, I felt the Lord allowed the current “pause” in the 2020 election to reveal things behind the scenes ~ and for us in America to learn and grow. This is a photo I took Christmas Day, 2018. A great egret captures a rat hiding in the swamp near Mill Valley, California. I felt this was a prophetic picture of the Lord about to expose secret things through the brilliant spotlight of His Holy Spirit. I pray that after these things are revealed, repentance and revival will lead to precious souls receiving Jesus and entering His Kingdom ~ what is ultimately on the Father’s heart. God bless you as you pray and seek HIS face for divine direction and wisdom. “Lord, YOUR will be done, on earth as in Heaven. Your will, Your way, in Your perfect timing. In Yeshua Jesus’ Name. AMEN.”

On the way home from serving at my church’s Christmas Day community dinner, I felt a Holy Spirit nudge to go a different route than usual and stop at a wildlife refuge near San Francisco Bay.

Venturing out near the marsh, I came upon a great egret (Ardea alba) hunting down a rat in the dark recesses of some swamp bushes. With a quick jab of its bill, the skilled hunter extracted the rodent from the entanglement of matted vegetation. Turning toward the blazing sun, it dipped its prey in water then made a quick meal of it in one swift gulp.

I felt the Lord saying the egret represents the Holy Spirit Who reveals the rat, our hidden sin in this illustration. Sin includes acts of rebellion and disobedience. It is “missing the mark”, that which separates us from a relationship with Pappa God. The Bible says all of humanity has sinned and fallen short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23).

The purpose for God revealing our sin is not to condemn, rather for His Holy Spirit to bring conviction for correction for our own good and eternal destiny.

When we repent and ask the Father for His forgiveness, He covers our sin by the precious blood of His Son, Yeshua Jesus. It is erased from our record, like it never happened.

The Lord is truly the God of a Second Chance when we do our part — by humbly submitting to His will and to His way.

Meditation: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)

Prayer:: “Father God, I invite your precious Holy Spirit to show me areas of my life that have hidden sin keeping me from full relationship with You and from realizing my God-given purpose and destiny. Help me to confess these to You. Create in me a humble heart of repentance and gratitude each day of my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”

Wildlife notes:

A member of the heron family, the great egret itself was hunted almost to extinction in the 19th and early 20th century for its feathers. Thanks to conservation and protection efforts, this stunning bird can now be commonly seen in North and South America and in various parts of the world. Although the great egret’s dietary staple is fish, it also eats reptiles, amphibians, insects, rodents and other small animals.

This is a similar acknowledgement used by great artists like Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel who signed their work with the Latin phrase, "Soli Deo gloria" which means, "Glory to God alone".
