"SUNSETS SUNRISES NIGHT AND MOON SHOTS", 05.24.15
I took this photo of the evening's waxing gibbous moon (five nights before becoming a full moon) as viewed over my front yard.
The moon's craters and other surface features are seen more prominently in this waxing gibbous phase when the sunlight is reflected at more of an angle than in the full moon phase.
The waxing gibbous moon is seen at an angle between 45 to 90 degrees in relation to the Earth and Sun. "Gibbous" means the moon is more than one-half illuminated. "Waxing" refers to the moon increasing in illumination, as it transitions to the full moon phase.
Today and throughout your life, know this truth: To God, you matter -- you are His crowning masterpiece!
"When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, and You have crowned him with glory and honor." (Psalm 8:3-5, NKJV)
Photographic note:
In the upper right-hand corner of the image is embedded the Hebrew abbreviation ב ס " ד of the phrase, "B'ezras Hashem" which means "with God's help", a beautiful reminder as an artist of my dependence on and acknowledgement of the Creator, the Originator of artistic creativity itself.
