Description
After a memorable boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, I took this photo of the ferry harbor in Tiberias, Israel in November 2009.
One of the passenger ferries is shown with palm fronds affixed to the roof as shade over the seats.
This shoreline is near the very spot where my Messiah Yeshua Jesus appeared to His disciples after His resurrection and served them breakfast on the Galilee beach, as recorded in the 21st chapter of John. It is during this memorable recorded moment in history when the loving Messiah restored Peter after he had denied the Lord three times prior to His crucifixion, and launched Peter into his world-changing ministry of sharing the Good News of redemption.
A trip to Israel is truly a life-transforming experience like none other as the Bible indeed comes to life, its faithful accounts of the Messiah's miracles being made real to me in living color.
The Sea of Galilee (also known as Lake Kinneret or Lake Tiberias) is the lowest freshwater lake on earth, at nearly 705 feet (215 meters) below sea level. It provides a portion of the drinking water for the State of Israel.
Tiberias is an ancient city on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee founded in 20 A.D. (C.E.) It became the seat of government in the Galilee region of Israel and was known for its 17 mineral hot springs. According to Wikipedia, Tiberias has been considered one of Judaism's Four Holy Cities in Israel, which also includes Jerusalem, Hebron and Safed. It is also a popular tourist destination. I stayed my first nights in Israel in this beautiful and historic lakeside city.
