Description
This is a scenic view of Tel Aviv, one of the largest cities in Israel and a major commerce and technology center in the Middle East. In this image, we are looking northward toward Tel Aviv from Jaffa, the Biblical city of ancient Joppa, with the beautiful eastern shoreline of the Mediterranean Sea. In the foreground is the amphitheater at Abrasha Park in Jaffa which hosts performances and film showings.
I took this photo in November 2009 during Tel Aviv's 100th year anniversary while on my family's trip to Israel when my parents celebrated their 50th Anniversary.
Jaffa (Joppa) from where this photo was taken is one of the oldest port cities in the world, having been established nearly 4,000 years ago. King Solomon, the prophet Jonah and the apostle Peter all had ties to this ancient Biblical port.
Acts 10:1-48 recounts when Peter, a Jewish apostle, received a supernatural vision while staying in Simon the Tanner's house in Joppa and was called to preach to Cornelius, a Roman centurion, who became the first Gentile convert to Christianity and thus marked a turning point in history when the Good News of Eternal Salvation through Yeshua Jesus began to be shared with the Gentiles. This was accompanied by their receiving the precious Ruach HaKodesh (Hebrew for the Holy Spirit), recorded in Acts 10:44-48.
Tel Aviv and Jaffa merged into a single municipality in 1950, two years after the miraculous establishment of the modern State of Israel.
Visiting Israel has been by far one of the most memorable experiences of my life... I've never been the same since. Totally awesome. It is so peaceful, and I felt completely safe walking the streets of Israel. It is truly the trip of a lifetime!
Interesting facts: Tel Aviv is considered by many to be the "Vegan Food Capital of the World" with over 400 vegan and vegan-friendly restaurants (as of 2017). It also has the third highest number of sushi restaurants per capita, after Tokyo and New York.

This image would be very suitable as a print (framed or unframed), poster and/or greeting card (quantity discounts on greeting cards available in packs of 10 or 25). Please see the ordering options on this page for more details. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Embedded in the top right-hand corner is the Hebrew acronym for "B'ezras Hashem" [ב ס " ד] meaning "with God's help". It is a reminder to me as an artist and photographer of my dependence on the Almighty, the Originator of all creativity. This is a similar acknowledgement used by great artists like Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel who signed their work with the Latin phrase, "Soli Deo gloria" which means, "Glory to God alone".
