Description
Majestic lift-off ~ A snowy egret (Egretta thula) takes flight over the Richardson Bay estuary near San Francisco, water streaming from its feet.
I took this photo in mid-September 2016 during a nature walk -- a refreshing break after several days of exhaustive paperwork, working on federal and California state business tax returns.
Watching the beauty of God's creation reminds me of His great love... creating all this for our enjoyment and stewardship.
When life's cares weigh you down, be refreshed by remembering that Abba Father created you as His crowning achievement!
"The LORD your God is with you. He is a hero who saves you. He happily rejoices over you, renews you with His love, and celebrates over you with shouts of joy" (Zephaniah 3:17, God's Word Translation).
Snowy egrets, like their larger cousin great egrets, were hunted almost to extinction for their showy plumage in the 19th century. Thanks to conservation efforts beginning in the 20th century, these majestic birds are once again a common and beautiful sight among coastal wetlands in the United States and Central America and South America for millions of people to admire -- and conserve for future generations.

Giving glory to God "Snowy Egret Taking Flight With Water Streams" garnered the following contest award on Fine Art America:
3rd Place (tie) in the contest "If I Were a Bird" on Fine Art America, 09.26.2016. Thanks to Natalie Subnaja who hosted the contest and to all who voted. God bless you! Seeing the magnificence of God's amazing creation powerfully brings to mind the words of the classic hymn, "For the Beauty of the Earth" written by Folliott Sandford Pierpoint (1864; public domain) :: "For the beauty of the earth, / For the beauty of the skies, / For the Love which from our birth / Over and around us lies: / Christ, our God, to Thee we raise / This our Sacrifice of Praise." Embedded in the top right-hand corner is the Hebrew acronym for "B'ezras Hashem" [ב ס " ד] meaning "with God's help". It is a reminder to me as an artist and photographer of my dependence on the Almighty, the Originator of all creativity. This is a similar acknowledgement used by great artists like Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel who signed their work with the Latin phrase, "Soli Deo gloria" which means, "Glory to God alone".
