Description

Dramatic cloud formations grace the sky over Chandler, Arizona in this photo taken in late October, 2013. This view is looking westward toward the Sonoran desert.

I was attending a Gospel revival tent meeting and during a break, people remarked how beautiful the sky looked. I went outside to see about the excitement, and witnessed one of the most glorious displays of celestial beauty I have ever seen. The Creator had indeed painted a stunning message of His love and grace with His heavenly paint brush.

There are several interpretations as to what these dramatic cloud formations portray. To me, it reminds me of an eagle taking flight, its wings lifted heavenward in praise to the Creator.

Embedded in the assortment of high cirrus clouds is a "sun dog" (parhelia) represented by a somewhat bright coloration visible just above the smaller tree in the bottom right center of the photo. According to Wikipedia, a sun dog is a type of halo created by light interacting with hexagonal ice crystals in the atmosphere. The crystals act as prisms, bending the light rays passing through them.
