Description
The Bible in today's headlines: VALLEY OF JEHOSHAPHAT, Jerusalem, Israel -- Tradition considers this place to be where God will judge the nations that attempt to divide the land of Israel.
"Jehoshaphat" in Hebrew means "Jehovah has judged" or "Yahweh judges".
The Valley of Jehoshaphat is known as the "Valley of Decision" or more accurately, the "Valley of Threshing".
The Word of God warns us of coming judgment to those nations that mess with His Land::
"For behold, in those days and at that time,
When I bring back the captives of Judah and Jerusalem,
I will also gather all nations,
And bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat;
And I will enter into judgment with them there
On account of My people, My heritage Israel,
Whom they have scattered among the nations;
They have also divided up My land.
Let the nations be wakened, and come up to the Valley of Jehoshaphat;
For there I will sit to judge all the surrounding nations."
(Joel 3:1-2,12, NKJV)
This is our moment to implore heaven for God's mercy to spare America and the nations more time to spread the Good News of the Gospel. We need to pray like never before.
Absalom's Tomb can be seen in the distance, center of photo. Jerusalem's Old City wall is in the upper right. Just beyond on the right is the original City of David, where King David established Jerusalem as Israel's Capital over 3,000 years ago.
This is part of the 20-mile long Kidron Valley mentioned in Scripture (2 Samuel 15:23, Jeremiah 31:40, John 18:1 and elsewhere).
I cannot help but think the olive trees represent the nations standing ~ even trembling ~ before the Almighty as they await their fate.
This photo was taken in November 2009 from near the Church of All Nations by Gethsemane, at the foot of the Mount of Olives, looking southwest. Little did I realize how prophetically important this very spot will be in coming world events!

Artwork notes:
A painterly effect was applied to my original photograph.
Embedded in the top right-hand corner is the Hebrew acronym for "B'ezras Hashem" [ב ס " ד] meaning "with God's help". It is a reminder to me as an artist and photographer of my dependence on the Almighty, the Originator of all creativity. This is a similar acknowledgement used by great artists like Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel who signed their work with the Latin phrase, "Soli Deo gloria" which means, "Glory to God alone".

Incredibly view of the Valley of Jehoshaphat, Brian. Love your beautiful painterly touch of this very significant place. It is powerful to see the view from Gethsemane and the Mount of Olives, to see the Kidron Valley with all of its history, to know the Golden Gate (the Eastern Gate) is on this side of the wall and its significance, and to see this valley through prophetic Scriptures. Wow. And all of the Olive Trees standing in this valley. Paul wrote about the Olive Tree in Romans 11. A very moving, sobering work, Brian!
Brian Tada replied:
Thank you very much, Rose, for your most kind words on this image! Indeed, the Apostle Paul's letter to the body of believers (the Church) in Romans 11 clearly illustrates God has a divine purpose and destiny for both Israel (the precious Jewish people) represented by the natural olive branches, and the Gentiles/Church which are the branches grafted in. What a powerful concept of unity as both Jewish people and Gentiles are unified by Messiah Yeshua Jesus. Blessings!
