A large Israeli flag flies high above a building with beautiful turquoise window shutters on the Biblical Mount of Olives overlooking Jerusalem, Israel.
This is one of many picturesque moments during my first Holy Land pilgrimage. Walking this land reminds me of the rich 3,000+ year history of the Jewish people in the land God gave to them as His everlasting Covenant that is without end. The proof of this is found several times in Scripture: Genesis 13:14-15, 15:18; 35:10-12; Deuteronomy 34:4; Joshua 1:4; Ezekiel 34:13.
One of the many things I love about Jerusalem is the beautiful stonework characteristic of a considerable majority of the buildings. It is called "Jerusalem Stone" and has been used since antiquity to the present day. Almost all the municipal buildings in the Holy City are decked out in this cherished building material, giving the city a unified architectural beauty that is unsurpassed.
As I stood on the Mount of Olives and viewed the gorgeous panorama of Jerusalem, I had an undeniable knowing in my heart the land on which my feet were planted carries great purpose and destiny that was prophesied millennia ago and is being fulfilled in this very hour, as Jewish people from around the world are making "aliyah" to immigrate to their Homeland, including a friend who taught me how to sound the shofar. Israel is truly a land beyond compare in its beauty and strategic importance in world history and current events. We are indeed seeing ancient Biblical prophecies being fulfilled before our very eyes.
"And I will bring them out from the nations and gather them from the countries, and will bring them to their own land; I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, in the valleys and in all the inhabited places of the country." (Ezekiel 34:13)
