Description
While on a nature walk in August 2020, I spotted these two honeybees as they visited California poppies.
Even in the midst of unprecedented smoke from wildfires burning in Northern California, I marveled at how they were busy about their daily tasks.
Honeybees are amazing creatures.
As with all of nature, they are a reflection of the character and integrity of the Creator.
Yes, they give us benefits, such as pollinating one-third of our crops and making honey.
They are also equipped with stingers to protect themselves and their hive.
There is a benefit ~ but there is also a warning.
There has been a "theme" preached in many churches that God is a God of grace and mercy.
Indeed, He is.
But... He is also a God of justice and judgment.
He will and does correct and punish sin ~ wrong-doing.
The Creator is King and Sovereign over all creation.
His rules and commands are non-negotiable.
Like the honeybee having stingers, so God offers blessings but also correction.
He is the Supreme Example of perfect balance.
To experience the blessing of the Creator, it is absolutely imperative we live lives of holiness and integrity.
And it starts with the body of Christ.
Scriptures point to the fact that “judgment begins at the House of God” and “those God loves He chastens.”
The King of the universe is calling us to repentance ~ of turning away from our sinful ways of wrong intents of the heart and outward actions, and following His ways and His teaching in Scriptures.
It is then we can truly experience the peace of God.
And, perhaps He might avert a greater disaster than the ones unfolding now.
“The Law of the Lord is perfect,
restoring the soul;
The testimony of the Lord is sure,
making wise the simple.
The precepts of the Lord are right,
rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the Lord is pure,
enlightening the eyes.
The fear of the Lord is clean,
enduring forever;
The judgments of the Lord are true;
they are righteous altogether.
They are more desirable than gold,
yes, than much pure gold;
Sweeter also than honey
and drippings of the honeycomb.
Moreover, Your servant is warned by them;
In keeping them there is great reward.”
~Psalm19:7-11 (NASB)

Embedded in the top right-hand corner is the Hebrew acronym for "B'ezras Hashem" [ בס"ד ] meaning "with God's help". It is a reminder to me as an artist of my dependence on the Almighty, the Originator of all creativity. This is a similar acknowledgement used by great artists like Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel who signed their work with the Latin phrase, "Soli Deo gloria" which means, "Glory to God alone".

I love how you have honored our beloved state flower. I look for that unique color to emerge every springtime. And because my grandma name is Bina, bee in Yiddish (short for Malka Bina, and of course Malka is queen in Hebrew!), I am partial to this pic!

They may be very tiny, but we can learn lessons from them and from all the other creature, which God has created!
