Description
How often we miss picturesque landscapes because we focus on the familiar… and not take the time to see the beauty all around us!
This is the magnificent view looking northward in the opposite direction of the famed Golden Gate Bridge near Sausalito, California USA. In the foreground is the Presidio Yacht Club harbor by San Francisco Bay. Just beyond is Fort Baker, which is now in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, one of the largest urban parks in the world and part of the U.S. National Park system. The majestic hills of the Marin Headlands dramatically rise in the background.
In the hills above, combined northbound U.S. Highway 101 and California State Route 1 gradually gain altitude after the roadway leaves the Golden Gate Bridge and climbs along the hilly Waldo Grade until it finally reaches the Robin Williams tunnel. The highway continues north through Marin County and onward to Santa Rosa, the Redwood Empire of Northern California and beyond.
This beautiful scenery quickens to mind the beloved passage referenced in the “Sound of Music”:
“I will lift up my eyes to the hills—
From whence comes my help?
My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.”
Psalm 121:1-2

Embedded in the top right-hand corner is the Hebrew acronym for "B'ezras Hashem" [ ב ס " ד ] meaning "with God's help". It is a reminder to me as an artist of my dependence on the Almighty, the Originator of all creativity. This is a similar acknowledgement used by great artists like Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel who signed their work with the Latin phrase, "Soli Deo gloria" which means, "Glory to God alone".
Please kindly note:
The "Fine Art America" watermark in the full resolution preview will not show in the final print/product purchased.
