Description

The backlit leaves of a stunning aspen tree (Poplus tremuloides) glow vibrantly against the backdrop of a gorgeous sky.

Like a savory golden bowl of exquisite triple orange sorbet, the colors in this image present a range of rich tones to refresh the soul and lead one's mind away from the day’s cares, even for a few moments.

Shimmering gold leaves
Reach to touch the azure sky ~
God’s creation known.

This photo was taken in October 2017 in the Eastern Sierras of California. While driving along June Lake Loop, I noticed a beautiful grove of aspens in their full autumn regalia beside one of the lakes. I was going to stop to take photos, but decided to drive on to other parts of the scenic route and come back later.

Little did I realize that upon return, the setting sun would provide a marvelous array of golden hues emanating from the backlit leaves.

I made this photo after a half-hour wait for the sunlight to be at just the right angle for maximum color.

At first, the aspen colors were very dull and muted. I’m very grateful God the Creator nudged me to wait around a little while longer to capture this portrait.

There is truly a “teachable moment” in nearly every circumstance in life.

Including taking photographs.

If I had been impatient and dismissed the dull colors when I first arrived and just moved on, I would have missed this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

All to the glory of God the Magnificent Creator.

This image is dedicated in loving memory of my precious Mother Cheryl, who was with me on this final road trip prior to her graduation to Heaven. I am comforted by the fact that Mom invited Yeshua Jesus into her heart, so I will be reunited on that GREAT DAY with her and my Dad and loved ones who have also received Jesus in their hearts and gone on to eternal glory ~ in the loving presence of my Messiah and Savior Yeshua Jesus. Oh! What a Day of rejoicing that will be! Are you prepared for that celestial reunion?
