Description
A Canada goose (Branta canadensis) quietly glides along the calm waters next to Richardson Bay amid the reflection of a willow tree.
U.S. Highway 101 is seen in the background, leading south toward the distant hill and beyond to the Golden Gate Bridge.
Nestled in an urban setting in the San Francisco Bay Area of Northern California, USA, this wildlife estuary is one of the most pristine along the Pacific Coast of the North American continent. It represents the fact that nature and humanity can peacefully coexist, when they work together in partnership with each other.
A bench under the willow tree beckons visitors to imagine themselves in this landscape of tranquility, taking in the lovely scenic view overlooking the bay.
I took this picture for a photography tutorial I am writing about the effect of natural sunlight on objects at various times of the day.
This photograph was made in the late afternoon in March 2020, just prior to the coronavirus shelter in place order in California.
Interesting note :: I went back to this very spot in July 2020, just a few months later. Gone are the smaller trees to the left of the willow tree. For some reason, they were removed. Perhaps for renovation or landscaping? So this photo can now serve as a keepsake as well as a fine art piece for home and/or office. It preserves the beauty of what once was.
Life lesson: When God the Creator presents an opportunity, now is the time to seize the moment without delay.
Curious about the beneficial effect of art, I did some research and found dozens of articles on this topic.
For example, did you know scientific studies provide compelling evidence that blue and green colors ~ especially in nature landscapes ~ tend to have a calming effect on the viewer?
Art may help promote a tranquil home environment ~ welcome relief in today’s tense world.
The stately willow tree in this image brings to mind Jeremiah 17:7-8::
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,
And whose hope is the Lord.
For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,
Which spreads out its roots by the river,
And will not fear when heat comes;
But its leaf will be green,
And will not be anxious in the year of drought,
Nor will cease from yielding fruit.” (NKJV)

Artwork Notes ::
Embedded in the top right-hand corner is the Hebrew acronym for "B'ezras Hashem”[ב ס " ד] meaning "with God's help". It is a reminder to me as an artist and photographer of my dependence on the Almighty, the Originator of all creativity. This is a similar acknowledgement used by great artists like Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel who signed their work with the Latin phrase, "Soli Deo gloria" which means, "Glory to God alone".

A beautiful reflections picture! Love the colors! You are right, Brian. It is best to take the photo-op, when it presents itself. Conditions are never the same next time round and sometimes there is not a next time! As I have found out to my cost!
